What is JAPA TIME?

JAPA TIME is a simple space for 24/7 congregational chanting of the Hare Kṛṣṇa mahā-mantra. The goal is steady practice, spiritual shelter, and encouragement through association.

We keep the website calm and lightweight, focusing on what matters: the Holy Name, personal practice, and śāstra-based guidance.

This project is not a commercial service. It is maintained as voluntary devotional service.

The Śāstric Foundation of 24/7 Saṅkīrtana

The JAPA TIME initiative is rooted in the Vedic śāstric injunction for constant remembrance of the Supreme Lord. As stated in Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam (2.1.11): "One should constantly chant the holy name of the Lord" (nityaṁ bhagavata-sevayā). This 24/7 saṅkīrtana platform embodies the Gauḍīya Vaiṣṇava understanding that in Kali-yuga, the prescribed method for spiritual realization is congregational chanting of the holy names.

According to Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta (Ādi 7.76), Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu declared: "In this age of Kali, the holy name of the Lord, the Hare Kṛṣṇa mahā-mantra, is the incarnation of Lord Kṛṣṇa. Simply by chanting the holy name, one associates with the Lord directly." The continuous nature of JAPA TIME's chanting reflects the śāstric ideal that the holy name should be chanted without interruption (anartha-nivṛtti) to cleanse the heart of material contamination.

"This 24/7 global chanting initiative follows the śāstric principle of 'yuga-dharma' — the specific spiritual practice for this age being saṅkīrtana-yajña (congregational chanting), as established by Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu and documented in authorized Vaiṣṇava scriptures."

The Zoom-based saṅkīrtana format represents a modern application of traditional Vaiṣṇava principles:

The voluntary, non-commercial nature of JAPA TIME aligns with the Vaiṣṇava principle of sevā (selfless service). As Śrīla Rūpa Gosvāmī explains in Bhakti-rasāmṛta-sindhu (1.1.11), pure devotional service must be performed without material motivation (anyābhilāṣitā-śūnyam). This digital saṅkīrtana platform thus serves as a śāstra-based response to the need for accessible, continuous holy name chanting in the modern age.
