Pramāṇa (Śāstra reference)

Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Ādi 7.54–58, explains that Mahāprabhu accepted a brāhmaṇa’s invitation in order to show mercy to the Māyāvādī sannyāsīs of Vārāṇasī. Seeing the assembly, the Lord offered obeisances, washed His feet, and sat beside the place where He had done so (7.59). There He manifested His spiritual potency and shone like millions of suns (7.60). His effulgence attracted the minds of the sannyāsīs, and they all rose from their seats (7.61). Prakāśānanda Sarasvatī addressed the Lord with deep respect and personally seated Him in the midst of the assembly (7.62–65). In the conversation that followed, Mahāprabhu explained His spiritual master’s instruction to chant the Holy Name (7.71–76), taught that the mahā-mantra awakens love for Kṛṣṇa (7.83), and repeated the order to continue saṅkīrtana and distribute kṛṣṇa-nāma (7.92). His words changed the hearts of the assembled sannyāsīs (7.99). The illustration combines the visible moments of 7.59–62: the Lord is still seated by the washing place, the sannyāsīs have risen, and Prakāśānanda respectfully approaches Him. The number of persons, the architecture, and Prakāśānanda’s open-handed gesture are artistic reconstruction.

Saṅkṣepa (short meaning)

In a brāhmaṇa’s home in Vārāṇasī, Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu humbly sits beside the foot-washing place. Suddenly His golden form illuminates the assembly with the brilliance of millions of suns. All the sannyāsīs rise in astonishment, and their leader Prakāśānanda Sarasvatī respectfully approaches the Lord and invites Him to sit among them. Without pride, Mahāprabhu reveals the glory of the Holy Name, saṅkīrtana, and love for Kṛṣṇa. His words transform the hearts of His listeners.

Before the first round, release the desire for honor and ask Mahāprabhu to teach you to truly hear the Holy Name.
2. Return the mind to the Name
When the mind drifts toward argument, comparison, or intellectual pride, gently return attention to the sound of every name in the mahā-mantra.
3. Read the exact source
Read CC Ādi 7.59–76 and 7.92–99: the Lord’s humility, His effulgence, His teaching on the Holy Name, and the transformation of the sannyāsīs’ hearts.
After sitting on the ground, Caitanya Mahāprabhu manifested an effulgence as brilliant as the illumination of millions of suns.
