Śāstra‑mārga Prithu-Viṣṇu Darśana
King Prithu receives Lord Vishnu’s divine appearance
The Lord reveals Himself to a devoted king — Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam Canto 4, Chapter 20

Saṅkṣepa (concise narration)

At the height of sincere duty and humility, Lord Vishnu reveals Himself to King Prithu, showing that the Lord responds personally to pure devotion and righteous service.

"ये यथा मां प्रपद्यन्ते तांस्तथैव भजाम्यहम् ।
मम वर्त्मानुवर्तन्ते मनुष्याः पार्थ सर्वशः ॥"

As all surrender unto Me, I reward them accordingly. Everyone follows My path in all respects, O son of Pṛthā.

— Bhagavad‑gītā 4.11

Śāstra‑pramāṇa (scriptural proof)

King Prithu rules for welfare and seeks the Lord’s guidance

King Prithu, an ideal ruler, performed his duties for the welfare of all beings. He sincerely sought the Lord’s guidance in ruling the earth, understanding that without divine direction one cannot truly protect and nourish the citizens.

Lord Vishnu appears and grants His audience

Pleased by Prithu's devotion and righteous rule, Lord Vishnu appeared before him, confirming the path of devotion and strengthening the king's determination to act as a servant of dharma. The Lord's presence blessed the king with spiritual insight and unwavering resolve.

Tattva (essential teaching)

The Lord is not distant: He reveals Himself to the sincere heart. Prithu's humility and dedication attracted the Lord's personal audience.
True leadership means serving the Lord’s will: A leader protects others spiritually and materially by acting as God's representative, not as an independent ruler.
Devotion is perfected through humility, obedience, and purified purpose: Prithu didn't demand or bargain; he simply served, and the Lord responded out of free mercy.

Sevā today (practice for this day)

1) Do one responsibility today as an offering
Perform a duty—at home, work, or in service—without expecting recognition. Offer it silently to the Lord.
2) Read a short passage from Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam
Read a few verses from the Fourth Canto (especially chapters 20–21) and reflect on how to apply the lesson in your life.
3) Chant attentively, praying for steadiness in humble service
Chant the mahā‑mantra for at least 10–20 minutes with the mood: "Let me be a humble servant of the servants."
"सर्वधर्मान्परित्यज्य मामेकं शरणं व्रज ।
अहं त्वा सर्वपापेभ्यो मोक्षयिष्यामि मा शुचः ॥"

Abandon all varieties of religion and just surrender unto Me. I shall deliver you from all sinful reactions. Do not fear.

— Bhagavad‑gītā 18.66
