LIVE DARSHAN & DAILY PRACTICE

Srimad-Bhagavatam Online: Where to Start

The JAPA TIME scripture library lets you open cantos, chapters and verses of Srimad-Bhagavatam. A new reader can begin with the questions of the sages in the First Canto instead of jumping between isolated quotations.

Your first steps

  1. Open Canto 1, Chapter 1 and read it as one conversation.
  2. Continue with Chapter 1.2. In verse 1.2.6, consider how the highest dharma is described.
  3. Read verse 1.2.17 together with its purport: hearing about Kṛṣṇa is connected with cleansing the heart.

A sustainable daily rhythm

Choose one chapter or a few verses. Read the translation and purport, and note one question. Continue from the same place tomorrow. Sequential reading makes the argument and the setting clearer than a collection of disconnected excerpts.

The library index leads to the other cantos. If listening helps you build a daily habit, the audiobook library contains other works you can hear alongside your reading.
