Pramāṇa (Śāstra reference)

Valmiki Ramayana, Aranya-kanda — after finding the mortally wounded Jatayu and hearing from him about Sita’s abduction, Lord Rama lovingly performs the funeral rites for Jatayu with Lakshmana, honoring him like a revered elder and faithful servant.

Saṅkṣepa (short meaning)

This lila reveals the deep gratitude and affection of the Lord toward one who gives everything in His service. Jatayu, though old and overpowered, fought Ravana to protect Sita and to serve Rama. When Lord Rama finds him and hears his final words, He does not treat him as an ordinary bird, but as a noble devotee and dear well-wisher. By personally performing his last rites, Lord Rama shows that He never forgets even one sincere act of sacrifice offered with devotion.
