Vaiṣṇava Etiquette

Practical Vaiṣṇava etiquette for respectful association, speech, correction, online conduct, temple mood and service.

This guide is offered as a practical devotional aid for personal sādhana. It does not replace the guidance of guru, sādhus, śāstra, local ISKCON authorities, temple pūjārīs, or senior Vaiṣṇavas. For formal Deity worship and temple service, please follow your local authorized standards.

Speech

  • Speak truthfully, beneficially and without unnecessary agitation.
  • Do not repeat another devotee’s weakness as entertainment.
  • Ask questions with humility and a desire to serve.

Association

  • Honor devotees according to your capacity and guidance received.
  • Do not imitate advanced devotees or demand intimacy.
  • Protect faith, especially around new people.

Correction

  • Correction should be service, not superiority.
  • When uncertain, ask a senior Vaiṣṇava privately.
  • Avoid public humiliation and online fault-finding.

Online conduct

  • Do not present personal initiative as an official ISKCON statement.
  • Do not copy BBT translations or purports without permission.
  • Use clear sources and humble language.
